From the People Who Brought Their Watches In

I brought in my grandfather's Omega from the 1960s — it had not run in over fifteen years. Panya assessed it within the first week and called to explain what he found. The movement overhaul took about three weeks. When I collected it, he showed me the timegrapher readings and walked me through what had been replaced. Running well now.

I had the Assessment & Clean done on a Seiko I picked up at a market. Honest outcome — they told me the movement was in reasonable shape but the mainspring was worth monitoring. No pressure to do more work. The written note was useful and I'll come back when it needs a full overhaul. Travel time from Bangkok is the only friction.

The heirloom restoration took about eight weeks, which is what they estimated. My father's Longines pocket watch — from the 1940s — needed a full overhaul and the case had some corrosion. They photographed every stage and sent me updates. The dial was cleaned conservatively, keeping its aged character. Very pleased with how it turned out.

Came in not really knowing what I needed. Araya was helpful in explaining the options without pushing anything. Ended up with the Assessment & Clean on two watches — one turned out to need an overhaul, one was fine. The clarity of the whole process was what I appreciated most.

Had a Rolex Tudor that needed a service. I was a bit cautious about leaving it — it's not a cheap watch. They were matter-of-fact about what it needed, gave me a clear price upfront, and completed the overhaul in the timeline they mentioned. The watch is running within normal tolerances again. Good experience overall.

I inherited a watch I knew nothing about. Nipa identified the calibre and gave me a thorough assessment note explaining its condition and its history. I did not expect such a detailed response. Even if I had decided not to service it, the note alone was worth the trip.

Three Watch Journeys

Case Study 01 — Movement Overhaul

A 1970s Seiko 5 Running Forty Seconds Fast Per Day

The Problem

The owner had worn this watch daily for years. It had gradually become less reliable — gaining noticeably and stopping intermittently. No service history was known. The watch was brought in after the owner found Naga while looking for watch servicing near Ayutthaya.

The Work

Assessment confirmed the movement oils had degraded and the mainspring was weakening. A full overhaul was agreed. All components were cleaned ultrasonically, new lubricants applied, and the mainspring renewed. Timing was regulated across crown-up, dial-up, and dial-down positions.

The Outcome

Three weeks later, the watch left running at +4 seconds per day in the dial-up position — well within the movement's normal range. The owner collected it with a timegrapher printout and a condition note. Total cost: ฿9,700.

"I'd forgotten what it was like to rely on it. Now I check it instead of my phone." — Narong, Lopburi

Case Study 02 — Heirloom Restoration

A 1940s Longines Pocket Watch, Dormant for Twenty Years

The Problem

The watch had belonged to the client's father, a civil servant in Lopburi province. When he passed, the watch was found in a box — stopped, with a tarnished case and a movement that would not engage. The dial showed some humidity spotting.

The Work

After a detailed assessment, a full heirloom restoration was agreed over several conversations. The movement was fully overhauled. Case tarnish was carefully addressed without removing the original surface character. The dial was cleaned conservatively — spots reduced but not eliminated, to preserve the patina.

The Outcome

Eight weeks and ฿14,300 later, the watch ran at +6 seconds per day. Photographs of each stage were compiled into a record document. The owner keeps both the watch and the documentation as part of the family archive.

"The photos showed me things I never expected to see inside it. Knowing the story of the repair is part of having the watch now." — Narong T.

Case Study 03 — Assessment Leading to Decision

A Market Find of Uncertain Condition

The Situation

A collector purchased a Seiko at a weekend market in Bangkok for a modest sum. It ran, but the rate was inconsistent. She was unsure whether to invest in a full overhaul or whether the watch was simply not worth the cost.

The Assessment

The Service Assessment & Clean was completed in ten days. The condition note revealed the movement was serviceable but showing moderate oil degradation. The calibre was identified and noted. The assessment suggested a full overhaul would be worthwhile in the next twelve months.

The Decision

The owner chose to wait, armed with a clear picture of the movement's condition. She has since booked the full overhaul. The ฿4,400 assessment gave her what she needed to make an informed choice without spending more than the situation called for.

"I left knowing what I had. That was honestly all I needed at that point." — Pimchanok R.
