Our Story
A Workshop Rooted in Patience and Precision
Naga began with a straightforward idea — that every mechanical watch deserves careful attention, and that the people who bring one in deserve an honest conversation about what it needs.
Back to HomeWho We Are
Naga — A Name, A Practice
Naga is a small watch repair and restoration workshop situated on U Thong Road in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. The name is drawn from the great serpent of Thai tradition — a creature associated with water, patience, and the steady flow of time. Those qualities feel fitting for work that asks you to slow down and pay close attention.
The workshop grew from a long-standing personal interest in mechanical movements — the kind of interest that starts with taking apart a broken pocket watch on a kitchen table and, years later, becomes a practice with proper tools, a light bench, and a calibrated timegrapher.
We work on Swiss and Japanese mechanical movements, both vintage and contemporary. The range of services — assessment, overhaul, and restoration — reflects the reality that not every watch needs the same level of attention, and that sometimes the right answer is simply a clean and a note.
Our Mission
Why We Do This Work
There are many watches in Ayutthaya and the surrounding provinces that have simply been put away — stopped, dusty, waiting. Some belonged to grandparents. Some are daily wearers that have gradually lost accuracy. Some arrived at Naga because their owners wanted to understand what a watchmaker actually does, and whether it was worth doing.
We find meaning in bringing those pieces back to a reliable state, or in helping an owner understand what they have and what it might take to preserve it. The work is not always dramatic. A clean movement running well within normal tolerances, returned with a clear written note — that is a good outcome.
Honest assessment before any work is agreed
Transparent communication throughout the process
Respect for the history carried in older pieces
Work documented and explained in plain language

How We Work
Standards That Guide Every Service
Assessment Before Work
No work begins without a clear assessment. We examine each piece and share findings with the owner before agreeing to any service.
Correct Lubricants
We use manufacturer-grade lubricants appropriate to the movement type and component — not a single oil applied everywhere, but the right grade in the right place.
Timegrapher Testing
All overhauled movements are tested on a calibrated timegrapher and regulated across multiple positions before being returned.
Water Resistance Checks
Where appropriate, crown and seal integrity are checked after work to give an honest view of the watch's current water resistance status.
Documentation
Restoration work is documented photographically at key stages. Owners receive a record of the process along with the finished piece.
Secure Handling
Every watch in our care is catalogued on arrival and stored securely while work is in progress. Pieces are never commingled or left unattended on the bench.
Our Values
Mechanical Watchmaking in Ayutthaya — A Long View
Mechanical watchmaking is an older craft than most people encounter in daily life. The movements inside a well-made watch can function reliably for generations when they receive proper care at appropriate intervals — typically every four to seven years for a frequently worn piece. Naga exists to provide that care to watches in central Thailand, where options for serious mechanical servicing have historically been limited.
We work on movements from the mid-twentieth century through to current production, covering a wide range of Swiss and Japanese calibres. Our tools are kept in good order, and we source parts through established supply channels for both new and vintage references.
Ayutthaya occupies a special place in Thai history as a former royal capital, and the province attracts visitors and residents with a genuine appreciation for craftsmanship and heritage. Those qualities translate naturally to mechanical watches — objects that carry history in their design and require human skill to maintain.
We are glad to discuss any piece that comes through the door, whether it is a family keepsake or a watch purchased recently with reliability concerns. An honest conversation costs nothing, and it is always where we start.
